Composite Module

The Composite module is designed to give users a structured, accessible overview of all composites—automated and bespoke—within their ecosystem.

Unlike the Analysis module, which focuses on a single instrument, the Composite module provides a navigable list of composites and acts as the main entry point for exploring their analytics.

Purpose

  • To provide quick, centralised access to all composites in the ecosystem.

  • To enable managers to track internal strategy consistency and performance.

  • To act as a gateway to deep analysis, including peer comparison and risk-return metrics.

Characteristics

List View with Jump-To Navigation

  • The Composite tab displays all composites available to the user.

  • Clicking a composite directly opens its dedicated analysis page, where full metrics are displayed.

Comprehensive Coverage

  • Includes all composite types: automated, bespoke, and PW-compliant (publishable).

  • Updated daily using the same net-of-fees, time-weighted return methodology as portfolios.

Standardised Construction

  • Every composite is based on defined parameters:

    • Unique Currency

    • Clustering available using portfolio characteristics

      • Type (discretionary, advisory, etc...)

      • RM

      • PM

      • User-defined Investment Cluster

    • Minimum TAV

  • Ensures internal consistency and comparability across managers and strategies.

Types of Composites

Automated Composites

  • Created daily, automatically, for every risk/currency pair in each ecosystem

  • Unique risk level and currency

  • Discretionary portfolios only

  • Minimum TAV and clean performance data

  • Begin from a single portfolio

  • Form the basis for PWI+ indices once ≥5 portfolios are present

Bespoke Composites

  • Manually constructed by users

  • Can reflect team mandates, strategy clusters, or RM-specific groups

  • Useful for internal supervision and performance attribution

PW-Compliant Composites

  • Meet strict methodological standards for transparency and public use

  • Can be published to the wider PW community upon certification

  • Designed for marketing, reporting, or reputational benchmarking

When to Use

  • To monitor whether a strategy performs consistently across clients.

  • To access PWI+ inclusion thresholds and peer group construction.

  • To validate benchmarks for client reports or due diligence exercises.

  • To explore whether deviation signals exist within composite groups.

  • To review and publish eligible composites for reputational positioning.
